Merrill Area Public Schools offers special education services for children ages 3-21 years old who have been identified with a special educational need. Services are provided in speech, language, motor, adaptive, social and/or cognitive development for children who live in the Merrill Area Public School District or have open-enrolled in the MAPS District.
Special Education services are provided in the child’s least restrictive environment as determined by all members of the IEP team including parents. The options for services for children 3 to 5 years old may include the child’s day care setting, their home, their 4K setting, or the Head Start Early Childhood setting at Pine River School for Young Learners. Individualized services are provided by certified professionals and designed to support each child based on their needs. Transportation is also provided.
Merrill Area Public Schools are committed to providing an equal educational opportunity to all children with disabilities within the district. If you have concerns about your child’s development, contact the MAPS Director of Special Education at 715-536-4581.
