Jefferson Elementary proudly serves the western portion of the Merrill School District. Approximately 230 students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 enjoy our open spaces in and outside the building. Our ample green space includes a nature trail that leads through the wooded portion of our grounds to offer unique experiences for classes. A dedicated staff strives to provide authentic learning opportunities to all students in a caring environment.
Built as an open concept school, Jefferson is unique in that it has no hallways. Students and staff enjoy a large commons area that includes two “Learning Lounges," a Makers Space area, and a school library. Our school community is close knit; student interaction between grade levels is encouraged.
Our positive notes home allows students, staff, and community to recognize positive actions by our students. By focusing on what students are doing “right”, adults are able foster positive, lasting relationships with learners. Our “Zones of Success” places students where they can be successful. We build up students and give them the resources to make positive behavioral choices through interventions served by caring adults.
A Continuous School Improvement model drives our constant desire to better our students, staff, and curriculum. The core learning areas of math, reading, science, and social studies are constantly being refined to meet the needs of our students and their futures. Music, art, physical education, and guidance lessons are an integral component to the well-rounded experiences we offer. Educating the “whole child” inside and outside the classroom becomes the ultimate goal. Makers Space and Explorations time allow students to explore, make decisions, and foster authentic learning in a creative way.
Our after school program is aimed at helping students grow to their full potential with a wonderful mix of academic support and enriching activities. The program is supported by both the school and community and serves many students and families.
Come visit us at Jefferson, we would love to see you!
