Merrill Public Schools Special Olympics provides sports training and athletic competition in bowling, cross- country skiing, snowshoeing, and track. To be eligible to participate a person must meet the following criteria: be at least eight years of age; be identified as having a cognitive disability; or a cognitive delay as determined by standardized measures; or a closely related developmental disability which means having functional limitations in both general learning and adaptive skills; agree to abide by the Merrill Public Schools Athletic Code of Conduct; and complete an Application for Participation in Special Olympics which requires a physical every three years.
