In Mock Trial, students become the attorneys and witnesses in a real-time courtroom drama. Students build their characters and their case and present them head-to-head against an opposing team in front of Judge and jury. Competitors are scored on their mastery of the courtroom and the precision of their presentation. Each year a brand new case is prepared by the State Bar of Wisconsin with witness statements, evidence, and rules of trial procedure that Students will learn to analyze and use to create their team’s presentations.
Adding to the authenticity of the competition, the regional competitions are held in real courtrooms across the state with the roles of Judges held by actual Judges and attorney volunteers from the area. Regional winners compete for the state title and have the chance to advance to the National High School Mock Trial Championship.
